Douglas-Coffee County Veterans Park
Did you know Douglas has a Veterans Park?
Tucked in the heart of Coffee County, the Douglas Veterans Park stands as a lasting tribute to the men and women who’ve served our nation. Each brick tells a story — of courage, sacrifice, and community. Whether you’re visiting to honor a loved one, enjoy a peaceful walk, or add a name to the memorial, the park is a beautiful reminder that freedom is never free.

Yesterday, a veteran received a birthday gift from his daughter-in-law that will outlast all of us — a personalized brick at our Veterans Park. Joy Vickers surprised him with it, and seeing his reaction… that’s a moment that stays with you. It’s a reminder of how important it is to honor our veterans every single day and to give them a place where their service will be remembered forever.
Thank you to Mr. Day and Joy Vickers for allowing me to share such a special moment here on Facebook.
It’s so important for us to honor our veterans each and every day, and this gift will stand in the park where our heroes will be forever remembered. If you have a veteran in your life, this is one of the most meaningful permanent gifts you can give — especially with Christmas right around the corner.

Look what happened Tuesday tonight.
Miracle League rolled into South Georgia State College and it turned into one of those nights you don’t forget.
Huge love to Stevie with Douglas Parks & Rec, the South Georgia State College faculty, athletes, and students, the Mayor’s Youth Council, numerous Coffee High athletes and students, Robert and Heather Preston, the VFW/VFW Auxiliary Post 5976, Hennessy Insurance, and Smeltzer Electric for covering admission and making sure these Miracle League athletes had basketballs to sign like the celebrities they are.
Nights like this remind me exactly why I love this community. Y’all showed up. You made magic happen. And every single one of you is a rock star.
Wow, what a day — watched SGSC baseball with softball players + the Miracle League! If you haven’t experienced baseball, Miracle League style, you ain’t doing it right. Way to go Hawks!!
